Running with no box lid is not more dangerous then with it stock.
As from the scoops, the filter is still exposed to the water and dirt just like stock. And the lower box protects it just like a Fabspeed setup.
so debris from bellow or flung from the belt will not contact the filters.
Does it make more power, hard to tell, and really don't care, as i'm not doing time trial. Its a street car. But the gain in sound is sure fun.
Drove in traffic on the way home, and popped the trunk as i got home, and filters were not warm at all. ambient temp i would say. As the scoops keep them filled with air as soon as you move.
I did the "no top on airbox "mod"" on Sunday. Increase in sound but only for WOT and higher rpms (I guess 4500+). Partial throttle didn't really produce any more noise.
It will tide me over until I finally decide on an exhaust. I'll put the cover back on then
