RPM jumping when upshifting, especially in lower gears

Hi gang,

I am back. Picked up a 997.2 S s few weeks ago and this is my third time around in 997s. Great to be back home.

I noticed something in this car that I did not notice in the others I have had. When shifting from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd, getting close to redline when shifting, the RPM jumps when the clutch is depressed and it jumps passed redline. Anybody experience this? Is it normal?

Cheers.

Might be that you are not getting off gas early enough and rushing shift. Is it worse in Sport mode? Try deliberately backing off throttle before depressing clutch and shifting. If it still does it maybe electronic throttle malfunction? Never heard of this before but anything is possible

It does the same in sport mode. I watched replays of videos I took at the track with the previous 997.2 and it seems to do the same. Will try as you suggested to back off the throttle a little earlier but it feels strange to do that.

Thats exactly what mine was doing, had to drive and shift slow for it to catch otherwise the rpms would jump way up, so went in and just did my clutch 2 days ago, asked for IMS to get done too but to my surprise the indy called me when they opened the car up with good news that my 2005 had the updated 2006 bigger IMS in it and no need to do it.

clutch, pressure plate, and slave cylinder i think ended up being 2k

Slipping clutch: maybe. Last 997.2 did it too though? Slipping clutch normally shows when throttle is applied with clutch pedal released after, not during shift. "Rpm jumps when clutch is depressed" It will if you are still on the gas. Just try using exaggerated shift procedure first as per good technique. If it still happens then you have had two 997's with bad clutches. $$$ Ugh
