Should I be freaking out?

Hi All

I have been the happy 997.1 3.6L owner for a few months now - bought the car a 2005 model from a guy that had not driven it for over a year - I drove it home 200miles and stored it for winter.

I have been reading about RMS and IMS and it made me freak out a bit so i went into my garage and looked under my car - no oil drips on the ground, BUT there was some oil on the engine - pardon i am not a mecanic could also be on another part i dont know where it comes from.

the car drives clean and stable in neutra its a 6speed manual with 100k miles on it - large service was done by porche authorised workshop 4000 miles ago and has full history all porsche

pardon the quality of the pictures i dont have anything to jack the car up with so its just my arm and iphone :-)

If it's reached this many miles, it's not likely to be IMS. If the leak is coming from where the engine and trans meet, it most likely RMS which is common and nothing to worry about. Just make sure the oil level is topped off. You can get a new RMS when you're due for a clutch job. If the leak gets worse and you start seeing puddles, then it may be time to worry.

When the car isn't driven for a long time. The rear main seals (RMS) will dry up and seep. Very common on the 997's. Nothing to worry about, it's $1,500 to fix here. Not sure how much it is in your country.
