IMS - yet again

Hi all,

just saw this info about what 997 cars may be affected with IMS issue.
http://autohaushamilton.com.au/news/...ts-made-simple
- 997 3.6ltr with M96/05 up to engine number 6950745

I'm looking at a 2008 model, and its engine number is higher than the one stated below.
The engine number on the one I'm looking at is 698xxxxx

Would you trust this classification?

If you do some searching here and on Rennlist you'll find that once you get into the later 06 and up motors that the IMS issue has basically disappeared.

Typically the 06 and above models have the larger ims. The ones with the larger IMS typically doesn't have the ims problems. But I'm not 100% sure

Late '05 and newer have the larger bearing. '08 definitely does. More concerning issue is bore scoring, especially if the car was used in colder climates. A boroscope review of the cylinders should be part of your PPI. Other than that, no major issues.
