Porsche 997 C2S 4th Gear Crunch
Porsche 997 C2S 4th Gear Crunch
Porsche 997 C2S 2005 80K miles FPSH
Had slight crunch on 4th gear only. Had the gearbox oil changed by a Porsche dealer, it made it slightly worse. Since had a new clutch fitted. Still have the crunch. Once the car is fully warm the gearbox is all working well.
Any ideas?
Kind Regards
Frank

What gear oil did the dealer use? It seems the preferred one is Mobil PTX which is not the standard lube from Porsche.
Not saying it will fix the issue, but the fact that it got worse after the fluid change makes me ask the question. Most have switched to PTX for difficulty getting into 1st, which I did. After the switch to PTX it is way better..and certainly after it warms up there are no issues whatsoever.

Sychro issues are super rare on 997 even 996 most synchro problems were in the 1999-2001 also if it was a synchro problem i'd imagine it would ALWAYS do it...Hopefully its something else.

Thanks for the reply. I'm waiting to hear back about which oil has been used. I'll get the oil changed to PTX. I know it's rare to have failty synchro's. especially on 4th. Big problem/expensive if I have.
