PTM,PSM, PASM warnings - intermittent, not battery

Hi All,
I am hoping someone on the forum can assist in the diagnosis of an annoying problem I have had with my 2008 997. For several months I have seen intermittent warning messages of PTM and/or PTM and sometimes PASM failure. I replaced the battery and had the codes reset only to have the warnings reappear in their usual fashion. The most reliable way to induce a warning is to leave the car outside on a sunny day, locked, and return to it about 4 hours later - invariably one or more of the messages will be present. Often (but not always), after a night in the garage the messages will not be present in the morning (car is unlocked in the garage).
So far one trip to the shop where they erased warning codes has not solved the underlying problem - they hoped a battery problem in the past might have caused the continuing issue but not so.
I would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks.

As there has been no reply I thought I would post where the issue lies now to perhaps help a fellow 997er if they should experience a similar problem in the future.
The vehicle was taken to the shop where codes pointed toward a steering column issue (? sensor) but also the gateway was apparently giving spurious outputs. I am told this can occur if the car was jumped with reversed polarity (maybe by previous owner). Accordingly the gateway is being replaced and we will assess.

Gateway replaced - no joy.

Steering column examined an a few broken pieces found - hopefully the fault has been found. Replacements on the way.

hot start?

Just a thought: Sunny day = electric problems is reminding me of the slow crank/hot start issue I'm struggling with right now. Does the car struggle to start when hot? The service bulletin mentions “various malfunctions in vehicle electronics” and “various error messages displayed in the instrument cluster” as common complaints.

Nope - starts right up - no hesitation at all. Thanks for the thought.

not exactly sure but I also have an '08 c4s. I had a PASM Failure warning only once appear on my screen. I asked on this forum and was told it could be a faulty battery cable as the 05-08 997's were known to have this problem. The battery cable leading from the battery located in the front that leads to the starter at the rear corrodes and stops a good strong contact which creates bad charging and weak starting capabilities. When I purchased my vehicle, the dealer put in a new battery because they said it was weak. A while later, I serviced my vehicle in Florida at a Porsche Specialist who told me this info. Just a thought
