Looking to add a bluetooth module to my 997 Turbo

My biggest complaint about the 997.1tt is the lack of modern features. I thought about upgrading the entire PCM to an aftermarket double din in-dash tv/dvd/nav unit, but honestly after considering in the cost for the BOSE adapter and the overall cost of getting everything up and running (close to $2000 I've heard) I don't honestly ever see myself going through with this upgrade. Not to mention that the PCM actually has features I wouldn't want to lose, i.e. the lap storage features for the sports chrono.

With that being said, the only thing I really need in my opinion to be satisfied is Bluetooth connectivity.

Features I care about:

1. Streaming Bluetooth audio via phone/iPod
2. iPod hookup via USB
3. Phone connectivity

Between the 3 units I've read about (Dension, Tookie, one other I can't remember) which is the best as far as quality and features? I'd like to be able to use the keypad for dialing, be able to look up phone book on the screen, see texts, music info, etc if any offer this.

I had a MObridge system in my 997.1 TT. It did all the things that you mentioned.

The PCM phone book is limited to 150 entries, if I’m not mistaken. It defaults to the first 150 contacts in your iPhone address book, alphabetically. I worked around this by setting the iPhone to only sync numbers that were in my “favorites” on the iPhone. You will not be able to see texts on the PCM screen. You’ll be able to dial using the keypad. Music information shows on the PCM screen, but not in the gauge cluster.

It’s not a perfect solution, but it’s the most elegant solution that I found that retains the stock PCM system.

Does anyone have a good vendor for the Mobridge system?

I have the Dension system with BT in my 997.1 and it works just fine. When I take a trip, I use Waze on my phone with Pandora and stream the audio through the Dension/PCM. My steering wheel controls work for cycling through the menus, the number keypad allows you do dial directly from the dash and then send the call through the phone (since the PCM and phone are linked via the Dension). The 997 is fairly loud inside so call quality for the person on the other end isn't stallar, but I think that's more the car than the electronics solution. My car did not have Nav, but the CD player still works and I can switch between BT and regular CD and FM wiithout any issues.

You can probably find one of these Dension setups used for a decent price. If you're looking for new, Eric at BumperPlugs would be your guy.

I also recently did a sound upgrade in this same car with a new rear subwoofer amp, and all Focal subs and speakers, keeping the rest of the PCM setup and the sound is now very clear and much better than the Bose speakers. (Install PDF is attached).

Good point on the CD player. The MObridge system replaces the CD changer, so you’ll lose that feature. It didn’t matter to me as my 997 didn’t have a CD changer. The in-dash CD player will still work.
