Sorry to hear about your woes. I hope Porsche can either figure it out definitively for you or take the car back a la lemon law.

Hang in there Judge

Poor Judge... I feel for you, and wish you the best on resolving this extremely saddening problem. Some cars are just destined to be LEMONS, so you turn them back in to the maker and let them make lemonade ...

Judge, did you check on your lemon law eligibility?

Sorry to hear about the problems. Porsche definitely should step up and put you in a new 997. Good luck!

Someone mentioned MAF issues, if you have a faulty MAF Sensor, a lot of times, unplugging it is the best thing to do. The default values that the Motronic will assume are better than the faulty readings its getting in many cases. Another cause I have seen for poor running after a warm start on Motronic equipped cars is a faulty Water Temp sensor.

Thanks,
Adam

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you have to have the problem happen numerous times, or have it in the shop for a minimum amount of time, before you can lemon it? What if it's a one time fix.....I doubt they'll give you a new car for that.

You have to have the same problem happen numerous times. It seems like every week, his car has a different problem.

oh man, that's the worst type of problem to have....unless they can prove it's all related.

Good luck with everything!

Depends on the state, depends on the type of problem, i.e. brake failure is weighted more heavily, etc.

My experience with a Chevy truck was the same problem but I knew that 30 days at the shop would also kick the lemon law into effect so I intentionally manipulated the number of days it was in the shop after they failed to fix a loose subframe. I think I gave them the truck at least 4-5 times to try and fix it. I don't think they understood what I was doing and I think Porsche would be a little more on the ball. I would highly recommend that you familiarize yourself with the law and keep that info at hand when dealing with your friendly dealer.

Sounds like Variocam+ took a ****. Hopefully it's all good now.

Not likely that there was any real damage if the cam's were locked up...but that would definitely cause the idle and the car to run like crap.

Are you happy with the car now that they fixed it??? Try to enjoy it!
