small rock chip on the windshield

drove the car today for the first time this week given all the rain.

heard a little sound from rock hitting the windshield. i looked at it later and noted a 2mmx2mm chip in the mid center area. it is no more than 1mm deep, and no crack or anything.

would you get this fixed? and can they even fix something so small. or should i just leave it.

J,
i need to see it. don't use a glass guy that have no idea what he's doing... lots of them out there. if they put hands on it is gonna make it worse. i'd say leave it for now. if there's no crack tomorrow u'll be fine. u can't make it disappear but only make it stop from spreading.

btw, if u think u might want to get it fixed put a piece of tape on the chip now to prevent the dust get in there.

raffi is infamous around these parts
Trovan,
you probably already know this but most insurance companies send those window repair guys for free to repair chips. doesnt count against you.
i had a small chip repaired, hardly any improvement in cosmetics but its supposed to protect it from growing.
on most of the websites they describe good results with a chip like yours that didnt have any cracks.
if there are no cracks though i'd probably leave it alone.

if it's that small, don't do anything. if it has a cavity that looks like a bull's eye, get a windshield repair kit for $10 from autoparts store. Permatex has one. You fill the cavity with resin that prevents speading and fills up with cavity to hide the bulls eye.
