Wheels - Go with 19s or 20s ?

It’s time to rid the lobsters and start considering some aftermarket wheels. I’d like to get your input regarding 19’s versus 20’s…pardon my ignorance but I don’t have a good sense of potential problems or issues with plus-1 upsizing.

I’ve lowered with H&R springs.

I like the look of 20’s but have concerns…

Wheelwell rubbing,
Speedometer/Odometer calibration
PASM
Ride quality
Impact on handling
Offset
Optimal wheel width
Why choose 20 over 19, strictly bling?
If you did it again, would you choose the same or go with a different size?

Any opinions/advice whatsoever is much appreciated, and if anyone has pics they want to share let’s see those too and make this thread visually rewarding!

Thanks!

If you stick with 19s you can use your old tires, therefore saving you money from buying new tires. 20s are just for bling, they add additional weight and won't handle as well. I would say for performance 18s are the best!

There won't be any rubbing issues with 20s if you buy the proper wheels for your car.

I recently did a track event with a 997 on 20"s and I wish it would have been on 18"s. If you never plan on tracking it and like the look go for 20"s.

I would go with 19's. Weight, comfort, how well they hold up to crappy road surfaces and....of course this is subjective... but in my opinion, as far as appearance- I think 19's look perfect in terms of visual scale on the 997; 20's look unnaturally big.

I have 18" Fikse's with Hoosier road race rubber for the track, the original 19" Carrera Classics that I ordered from the factory have Michelin Pilot Sport Cups on them, and for the street I currently have 20" TechArt Formulas (yes, for the bling). You should have no rubbing or speedo issues if you size correctly, as all will have the same OD. If I had to have just one, multi-purpose size, I would go for the 19s. Probably Kinesis 110s, as they look good and don't weigh too much.

Oh yeah, my car is lowered also, with TechArt springs about the same height as H&R. As for scale, whatever looks just right today, will look too small tomorrow . . .

Yep,
like Mexico said, if you have another set of wheels for the track, the 20"s look tight on a 997 on the street.

If you do much city driving or your roads are kind of crappy, go with 19s.
