997s vs. 996tt

Hi all. Well ive driven both cars and need to decide which i want to go with. I am coming from a 99 c2 996 with coil overs and gt3 bars. Anybody have or have had both cars? I would like to get some opinions. I think they are both truely awesome cars. The 997s has slightly crisper handling, but the tt seems like it has tons of grip. I also have a posiiton on the 997 gt3 list, but think its going to be a little out of my range after all is said and done, plus i am not sure how good a daily driver it will be even with the PASM.
Thanks,
Todd

I'd go with the 997S. IHMO, far better chassis: more buttoned down, more visceral, better steering feel by a large measure, and better shifting gearbox. Doesn't have TT power, but my pick is chassis over hp, especially since the 997S ain't slow.

The 996 GT3 was terrible daliy driver IMHO. The 997 GT3 is said to have a ride quality better than the sport setting on PASM of the 997 (which isn't saying much I suppose), and noticeably better than 996 GT3. It might be an acceptible daily depending on your needs, though:

ride height can be a PITA
it'll be louder in the cabin than a 997S or a TT
you lose your rear seats
lose PSM

I've had both... they are great in every single way!

The main and most important reason why I'd pick the 997S over the 996TT is that engineers cracked their heads for six years improving everything from one model to another. You can really tell that Porsche did their homework if you drive a 996 and a 997. On the other hand the TT power is amazing!!! you won't be close to the TT unless you S/C the 997... then you'll be able to walk away from it. The TT has a lot of grip because of the AWD but the 997S hadles a lot better. Also the interior looks much nicer and not so cheap.

Hope this helps... and whatever you chose it'll be alright!!!

IMO I would go with the 997s over the 996tt anyday.. For the past 5 years I have had 5 996's and three of them were 996tt. My last 996tt was a 05996tts-coupe which I recently sold.. I never drove the 997s until two weeks ago and I instantly fell in love. The steering is so much better and the car feels so much tighter than the 996. The sound is great along with the interior that reaks of refinement. I also think the car is balanced out much better and just an all around better car.
I am NOT putting down the 996 or 996tt in any way, but if I were you go drive a 997s and I think that you will be VERY impressed. I know it is a little bit slower(Just a little) But the rewards in other ways it will bring will be worth it..
