mine V1 is also as high as possible to the right of my mirror. mine is not hardwired(lease) but I bought 30' of RJ11 Phone wire at lowe's and ran it down my A pillar and under the sill trim to the trunk as my car has a 12v outlet back there. it's within easy rear so I just switch it on when I get in the car. in a 997/987 you could do the same if you do not want to mess with hardwiring it and just run it down your pillar and under the dash to the 12v on the side of the console., oh and best detector I've ever owned. I have lost track of how many times it has saved me from some trooper on the side of the road.

 

I had it hard wired Saturday. Placed it high and to the left of the mirror.
