Well either way, its great for you to join the Porsche family. I think that you should just get 2nd gear checked out. try not to let them know youve been bouncing off rev limiter. just tell them it wont go into 2nd and make somthing up about the extra revs. should be covered. not something i have ever heard of on porsches tho, especially with a 997S. Yea the turbos are notchier, but the 996s and 997s are very smooth. good luck with it.

I actually love the way its shifts, very smooth and pricise. but once it gets to 7k and a fast shift is required it just doesnt go in.. It was fine last time i was doing some spirited driving but for some reason that night it was totally different.

Warranty issues because of over-revving should not affect the gear box. The car is supposed to go into 2nd regardless if you put in a supercharger. Take the car into the service center and tell them to check the gear cable. I remember reading something about porsche not allowing people to order the short shifter because it would pop out of 2nd.
