Fabspeed 997 and 997S mufflers difference?
I have a 2006 997 S and I bought my Fabspeed mufflers from Evolution Motors because Fabspeed was out of stock at the time. On the Fabspeed site it say's you have to specify either 997 or 997S and I bet this is due to the exhaust pipe sizes? Does anyone know if the 997 and 997 S use the same header and exhaust pipe sizes?
My stock tips are welded on the end of the Fabspeed exhaust pipe. I'd like to put the bigger looking chrome Fabspeed tips on and I thought this was a simple bolt off and on proceedure?
I had Reeves Porsche in Tampa do my install at the time of delivery and they said they had a heck of a time getting everything to fit.

I am not sure if the mufflers are also different, but the muffler exit pipes are smaller on the 997 than from the 997 S.

I spoke with fabspeed and was told that they are getting some calls from 06 c2s owners about this. They said they weren't sure if porsche had chaged something about the tips or not. They told reeves to use a pipe extender to blow up the diameter of the exhasut pipe a little to make the tips fit. Fabspeed told me that if you buy their chrome tips they come with 2 crush washers. They said use both for 997 and just one for 997S. They said the diameter of their chrome tips was the same for both models. So based off that I would say their exhaust pipes are different sizes just like the stock pipes. I think they just make one size for NON S models and then use a pipe extender on the S model ordered when they now that is what they need to ship. That is just a guess.
I have to go to reeves tomorrow to have them adjust my tips, since the install one of them has moved. This is what I know. I hope it helps.

golfman, I have to go to Reeves too to take in my BMW X5 for service at 10-10:30am. What time will you be there? I plan on stopping my the Porsche service dept and talk with Joe to further ask him if they used the Fabspeed pipe from the muffler to the tip or the stock Porsche piece.
