There are some great stretches in both directions on the svce road - you also have the benefit of the sound barrier and no side streets in a lot of places which means no cops and no other traffic.
Are you kidding me ! You just did 150mph on the east bound service road of the LIE east of deer park ave.. In addition to being a porsche driver who has driven competitively for over 15 years I am also a competitive bicyclist. The strip of road you mentioned is a piece of road frequented by cycling teams for training and I ride it frequently. Are you serious you do 150mph there. If so you seriously irresponsible!

Sorry, I've never seen a cyclist there. And if as you say it's a "team" that would be pretty easy to see from quite a distance. Probably more so than a car what with all the bright colors cyclists wear. Also, it's not like i'm doing 150 for the entire stretch of road.

r u kidding me?i think everybody here opens it up every now and then and when you do it is becuase at that moment you feel it's ok,and can control the given situation.now if you have never opened your car up on any public road then you are the exception and i am deeply sorry.and yes i am familiar with the road in question.[just hope it was not at rush hour]

No need to feel sorry for me I think you should feel sorry for any poor soul who happens to be on that service road when E55amg is doing 150mph. If you know that road you know that it runs by a nursery and a residential area. How long do you think it takes to stop from150.
As for our need to "Open it up" are you equating that with driving through an area frequented by nursery trucks, cyclists and other commuter traffic. I guess "our need" cancels out others need for safety.

Wrong. It's not anywhere near the nursery and no residential. Read my first post again. I said there are spots in both directions where there is the sound barrier and NO SIDE STREETS. No one is at risk other than me. I'm not reckless. I will usually do one loop to check conditions, cross over one of the overpasses and come back. I can't be any more careful. Trust me, you'd rather have me do that under those conditions than other nuts who weave in and out of traffic, talk on the phone, put on makeup, etc. etc. etc. while they drive.

Anytime I do this it's also done during the week, non-peak hours. Trust me, there is NO ONE on the road or I don't do it. If there is a car up ahead I slow down and have never, ever passed another car at anything considered to be high speeds. this is because most people drive with their heads up their *** and I don't want to scare them.

i guess ur not to familiar with the area.as for opening it up thats when your driving and you get that sudden urge to push your foot down on the gas and get the rush of being pushed back into your seat.[guess you never ever do that]you must never have gone over the speed limit, becuase when you do you're potentialy puting some one at risk a slow driver an older lady a dog walker,a rodent.
look all i'm saying is that everybody here speeds if not they would be in a hyundai forum talking about their great warranty.i'm sure e55 was not being reckless and he should'nt have to justify himself to you, unless your a hyw patrol officer or the judge.

No, he knows the area. I was scolded because it's a road he happens to know and use. I didn't see him scold anyone else or you (I think it was you) when you mentioned the Wantagh.

I just realized something else. He mentions the nursery - that nursery is literally on the corner of Deer Park Ave. and the service road. Does he think I did 150 through the intersesction of Deer Park Ave. and the LIE LOL?

Your right, I shouldn't have to justify myself. As I said, I take every precaution I can possibly take, including doing multiple passes on a stretch of road to check for side streets, traffic conditions, "bike teams", and yes, cops. If there is any danger to anyone other than myself I move on and look for another place. Finally, it's not like i'm dong 150 for stretches of miles (although I wish I could!). I'm there for all of about 3 seconds and on the brakes hard.

Nice shots. I'm a pilot too. Which airport is that in NJ? Looks nice. I fly out of CDW (Essex County / Caldwell).

Ive taken several videos of my car on that stretch before as well, ran numerous of my cars up to speed and so on, at the right times there is no traffic or pedestrians, usually at night for me!

Yeah, I don't get it. I'm 42 years old and don't do things without thinking it through. At certain times of day there is absolutely no one on parts of the service road
