Some questions about 997 & Targa
Some questions about 997 & Targa
Is it true that targa is only made for a couple of years for each generation of the 911? Does it mean higher resale in the long run?
When is the 997 face lift expected? My dealer says it will be my2008. If so, will targa also come in the face-lift (unlike the turbo)?
With regards to safety, is it lesser safe in case of accident or roll over?
Can you really fit small kids in the back seat or is it just too loud back there?
Thanks

From what I have seen, the Targa does not demand a premium in the used car mkt. Some people love them and others not at all. If that is what you want, you should buy one and not worry too much about resale.
targa resale
I am expecting my special order targa c4s any day. They have had a glass top now for a number of years and from what I know they are just as safe as other models. I don't think there is an better retention value, probably much less, since the market is very specialized to those who like that mode. I order mine because I like the looks and do not particularly like cabs. I have had 2 sl500 mercedes, at least 2 911 cabs, and a boxster, and one of the first targas they made. I think it was 1973. My wife does not like the air on her head. Anyway if you like a targa get it.

No premium for the Targa maybe even less value than a coupe but they are unique. No one driving a Porsche is too worried about resale, we just love them. Get what makes you happy and don't worry about others. I personally like the 996 Targa but the 997 seems odd (not ugly) to me
targas actually don't retain as high of a value but like everyone said they are unique and you should buy the car for yourself. But the difference imho is negligable. You won't notice it cuz u will be too busy remembering the good time u had in it.

Judging by 993 and 996 targas, they hold their value, but are a ***** to sell. You really need to be patient to find the right buyer for these cars. Some people like targas, the majority hate them.

I love my Targa. I purchased a Porsche child seat and it fits great front or rear. The 4S engine sounds great (sports exhaust) and it's a blast to drive. I'm going to track it AGAIN in a couple of weeks (even thought I got an automatic).
I may be interested in selling my white Targa 4S to make room for the GT3RS coming. It's fully loaded, I mean all the way -- plus I added Sirius and iPod connection. PM me if you are interested.
