Same feelings here

After seeing and test driving the 997 turbo, I have really no desire to upgrade either. Same interior for both, the Carrera's classic shape w/out the turbo bumper and wing, awesome normally aspirated exhaust noise....

Nothing against the turbo; it definitely is KING of the 911 range: torque for days, power beyond belief, 4 wheel drive, technology tour de force.

I just prefer my Carrera S at this point since I'm getting used to all its weight nuances and rear wheel drive configuration. What can I say? Its brilliantly simple and still makes me smile everytime I'm behind the wheel, and that's all that matters!

Come on guys stop justifying why you didnt get a 997TT. Honestly if everyone had the money they would spring for a 997tt over a 997s, sorry.

Ok, please tell me why any sensible person with enouhg money to easily buy a 997tt ot 997s would opt for the lesser value/performing car?

Looks? No
Performance? No
Options? No
Feel? You guys will talk about this but having both cars in the garage this is a very easy decision for me.
Price? There's the reason!

Give me a break. I thought you had smarts but I guess not with the above quote. What am I going to do with a TT on Maui? There are no roads to use it. I don't want to be a stoplight queen like some people. I pushed it at buying a 997S and definetly would have looked stupid with a turbo or GT3. Its not about the money to me.

I thought the same about you but now you are actually telling me you would look stupid in a 997tt so you got a 997s instead?

So now all 997tt owners are stop light racers? They all need to drive WOT at all times? Come on man, justification to a sensible point is accepted but this is just plain invalid.

I always considered my self a pretty sensible person so to answer your questions:

Looks? With exception to my '87 Turbo I have always preferred my cars "wing-less" and understated back to my college Mustang years when I always opted for the 5.0 LX instead of the GT.

Performance? The Carrera S is EVERYTHING I could want in terms of performance in a street car.

Options? No difference

Feel? I LOVE oversteer and will take a rear wheel drive sports car over AWD any day.

Price? As I said before I can easily afford a 997TT but like I also said before I consider my self SENSIBLE enough to spend my money wisely.

That being said the 997TT is an awesome machine but I am very happy with my S and see no reason to trade up.

Now if they were to make the Carrera S with the TT engine and left everything else alone, they would have my money tomorrow!

Yes I would look stupid on Maui with a TT. Not all TT owners are stop light racers. I said some and you take it for what its worth. I have no open roads here and top speed is 55 when turbos kick in. The stretch of road is not long enough. Believe me its not about money but you think what you like.

OK brain surgeon - I'll humor you...

First, I DO think it looks better than the Turbo.
Second, if performance was the big issue, I would have bought a Z06.
Third, options are the same on either car.
Fourth, I do like the feel of NA cars better. Turbo is fun, but NA is better.
Fifth, I almost ordered a V8 Vantage, so price wasn't the issue.

In all truthfulness, if I was still in CA, I'd have probably ordered a GT3, but it doesn't make sense here in VA where there is actual weather.

But of course, since you're going to go back to the "if you could afford it" argument, I guess the other $30K car in my garage doesn't count for much AND I bought it after the 997S.

Ok man, im not getting into this. There is obvious bias. With both the 997s and 997tt sitting by each other in my garage i actually dont want to sit in the 997s.

That would also be a sweet option. I am a naturally aspirated fan myself.

Your reasoning on the GT3 is dead on. I had a 2005 GT3 which I traded for my S. I loved the rawness of the car but it was completely undriveable on the streets around here.

Oh, now it's a bias??

A few minutes ago we were just too poor to own one.
