Fair fight...R8 vs. 997S?
Fair fight...R8 vs. 997S?
I was reading the latest Road and Track where they were suggesting that the new R8 has the 997 in its sights and at first I thought ofcourse, every car maker seeks to compare its latest offering with the all mighty 911. As I read on it occured to me that the two cars are not even on the same page especially with regard to price, power, and drive train.
Seems to me that Audi and these car mags are picking on the little guy (N/A 911's) and over-looking intentionally or not the big brother (Turbo). The R8 is no doubt a great car but I hope they don't take the chair out from under the 911 given the obvious deficiencies.
This also got me thinking about how great it would be if Porsche added another sports car (don't bash me) to its line-up to compete with the Ferraris and Lambos that really seem to be pushing the performance envelope especially with the next small Ferrari rumored to see yet another significant power increase.
Warm Regards, Evan

I agree Evan. Not a fair comparision, but even then, the na911 will give it a run. We will see what everyone else says, and we have to wait for regular production models to come out to be fair. Really should be compared to the TT997.
