Drive your PCAR without any remorse or care for depreciation. Cars are toys, not investments! It's the price for fun.

Look at the bright side...
You can pick up a preowned one at a fraction of the cost. I hope the turbos and GT3's really start depreciating hard!

I'm not lamenting about Porsche's depreciating, just how much faster they are depreciating. I had my 01 360 Modena for two years and traded it in 9k less than what I bought it for. That's because Ferrari manages their marquis well and doesn't overproduce. It cost me a lot less money to drive that Ferrari than my 997.

my theory is this. think hard before u buy. should've considered all consquences. if u can afford it why not. it's our toy afterall.

Exactly - I'll buy another one when this one's paid for. If I can a GT3 or Turbo, all the better.

Anyone who buys a car for anything other than driving it and enjoying it is deluding themself.

I think that the 10k/yr still holds water. I just purchased a 2005 997 with 15k miles for 63K. MSRP was 88K. I looked around for one in pristine condition and bargained hard for it. Trading the car in is another story. You will always lose your shirt. If you sell it by yourself, you can get much higher prices.

You're exactly right. More 996's and 997's than 993's ever. Plus the 993 is the last "real" Porsche. They still have better quality than any new Porsche. Porsche put everything they learned over the years into the 993 and it is the epitomy of what a 911 is.

A month ago, I took advantage of the depreciation and picked up an '06 C4. The car was 10 months old with 5k miles on it. I got a great deal and picked up an $86,110 sticker car for a lot less.

Depreciation sucks, but Porsche is no different than any other auto manufacturer these days. Mass produced cars are never a good financial investment, but as was mentioned earlier, this investment has changed my life for the better. I've been cycling through cars every 2 years for a while, but I've NEVER driven anything as fun as my Porsche. I love my car more than I hate how much it will depreciate.

Mine can depreciate to 0 and then I'll just push it off the cliff.....
