A spare tire and the 997?

I did a search. It did not answer all of my questions.

I did find a post by a member that experienced a flat and indicated that he was just stuck:
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...78&postcount=2

I read a few other threads in the search and found no real solution (one guy had a spare but it didn't fit....).

I remember the 996 had a spare. Did Porsche delete the spare with the 997 (all models)?

I understand that there is a kit that will fix a tire that has a repairable puncture. I am worried about an extreme situation when the tire is cut beyond the ability of a roadside fixture with the kit.

I have experience with this. I hit a big piece of metal coming back from Florida late on a Sunday night. It stranded me for 24 hours (in a Z06).

Anyone know of a workable solution?

My rear tire of my Carrera S found a large bolt after 365 miles. The car was in the garage for a week and a half while I waited for a new tire and a new wheel to arrive. I haven't heard any good alternatives yet.

There is a spare option but its for a few countries (other than the US) that require spare tires. On some other boards there are some pretty good descriptions with part numbers for a 996 spare, mounting, etc. At least on your Z06 you had run flats. Other folks recommend buying a plug kit to use instead of the fix-a-flat.

You can buy a spare from a 996 (which will fit), and mount it in the trunk. It does take up quite a bit of room but that is an option. Make sure to get a jack and socket with a breaker bar, as well as a large trash bag to put the flat tire/wheel in so it will not mess up your interior. You can get the spare and jack on Ebay for around $200-$250. I did this on my 05 997 and am doing it again on my 07.

The spare is a collapsible unit that needs to be inflated prior to use. It has the virtue of fitting in the trunk. Part number is: 996-362-620-02. Your bank account will collapse by about $700.
