Help! How do you get the friggen filter off???

I have a EVO V-Flow air intake installed on my 997S. I want to clean and oil the filter, but I can't seem to get it off? The space around the filter is very tight and when I try to remove it, it won't clear the mounting lip of the plastic intake pipe.

Any tips on how to get this bugger off?

996SC is infamous around these parts
First you have to take out the weatherstrip surround the box. You just have to pull it out; it like a clip on. Then you have to un-screw the metal clamp all the way to the end and take it out. Now grab the small end of the filter cone out first slowly at an angle. Its a bit tight but you should able to get it out. Hope this help. I just got mine out today and shake out some leave and debris off mine.

Oh, you can also un-screw the clamp where the round plumbing to your filter cone. This way you can pivet the filter cone out toward you to pull it out. Either way you have to take the the plumbing clamp to put the filter cone back after you clean it. In fact, I just email EVO to determine I should clean the filter or it need to be replace since I am not sure mine is a oil type filter or the dry filter. I am wondering how are you cleaning yours...

Thanks for your reply. I couldn't un-screw the round velocity stack connected to the tube (it appears to be glued on).

Anyways, after a tremendous amount of effort, I got the filter off. I used a K&N filter kit to clean and oil the filter. I'm pretty sure these are "oil type" filters.
