Fabspeed Sport cats for 997

Recently installed Fabspeed muffler for my 997 and definite improvement in sound/performance. I want to have more sound/loudness- will the sport cats definitely increase the sound towards the older version fabspeed exhaust i had on my 996 turbo?

cats will increase the sound slightly, but not as much as a set of headers would.

If you want loudness, forget the sportcats. Spend the money on the Fabspeed headers and get the cat by-pass. You'll feel & hear the difference, your neighbors won't be too happy

Doc, you def don't want bypass pipes on a DD, it will drive you crazy within 20 minutes. I had 'em on my 996 for a while on/off(mostly at the track), they ended up burning up my cats, hence the CEL. The cats run 1495 each on a 996 too. I would leave it as is for now.

I have Fabspeed headers and cats with my PSE and the sound is much louder than stock. I like loud cars, so I wouldn't mind swaping out the mufflers. No CEL with the 100 cell cats.

A great must do mod in my opinion

I have Fabspeed headers/mufflers with a cat bypass on my 997S. Car sounds like a Harley at idle. I love it!

I would actually think that changing out the cats for some high flow ones would make the car louder then switching out the headers. I recently put some x-51 headers on my car and the actual volume of the car did not change, just the quality(better) a little bit.
If you want loud with no worries of a CEL and such, do what I did, Muffler bypass pipes(fabspeed). Gives the car a real nice sound, in my opinion its just the right amount of loudness. My car is pretty much a DD and I love it, Im thinking of putting some 200 cel cats to make the car even louder and also add a few more hp.

Actually headers don't add that much to volume of sound if at all, the cats will add more volume. Headers can change the tonal quality of the car though. In your case it's the Borla muffler you are hearing.

Thanks for the insight, these Borla mufflers are much louder than I was giving them credit for then. I guess the headers just a add a bit of thee rumble to the mix.

When I did the full length headers on my M3 with race cats but kept the stock muffler the car did sound more racy but still not that aggressive. I added the Borla and it was WHOA!!

I was going to buy some Fabspeed mufflers, but I am going to wait for the Borla.

Any idea when the Borla for the 997s will be released? Dave Borla was on another site late last year but we have not heard a workd from him since. I had Borla on a Vette and they are very very nicely built, make power and sound awesome.

Talking with Borla just last week they told me 60-90 days out...they are making some adjustments and prepping for production.
