Capabilities of stock 997s w/ street tires

This was my first trip to Watkins Glen with my new 997S - my previous experience was with a modified E46 M3.

997S bone stock with slight (street/track) camber via GT3 control arms (about -1.8 front) - better turn-in, but still understeer. AWE Headers / Cats / Mufflers.

Many have wondered just how good the PS2 is and here's a quick summary of some of my TraqMate data from 3 sessions:

24.25 seconds braking (best recorded)
118 entry speed, 119 exit speed (best)
1.41 G braking, 0.44 G acceleration
1.62 G left lateral, 1.34 G right
143 MPH top speed, 56 minimum, 88 average
2:17 dry lap, 2:21 wet lap (love those PS2s in the cold / wet)

Once I learn the car better I expect to see 2:14 or better and once the R-comps go on, probably 2:10s. Extremely capable car and those lateral and braking G's are just plain incredible. Mind you, the weather was not optimal - about 50 degrees and cloudy, so a sunny 75 degree day would post better figures. Just as amazing is 2:21 in the rain / wet - kudos to the PS2 "wunder-tire".

Nice report. Just curious what were your times with your E46?

M3 had OZs with R-comp PSCs (4x265), lightweight 2-piece floating rotors, SS lines, ATE200, Spec VR pads, AFE / Shark / Borla, and Schroth quick fits. Light version of the E46 M3 - manual cloth seats, no sunroof, manual, no options... 2:18 was about where I was with that last time at The Glen and I knew the car extremely well - 100% Flat from Apex of Turn 1 to the Bus Stop (did not have the nerve to be Flat with the 997S yet - that's coming with the R-comps).
