997 Clutch Problem and other issues

After a brief search on these forums, I've determined I may have a clutch master cylinder problem. Here are the details:

My '06 997 C4 has 854 miles on it (it's new) - about 100 miles or so ago, the clutch engagement point changed to just about at the floor level and, has, a few times, failed to come back to it's normal position (almost stuck to the floor but after it engaged).. I'm afraid it may be the clutch itself, but not sure.. I'm bringing it to the dealer but they can't fit me in till Friday..

Also, my instrument cluster is slightly vibrating which is driving me up a wall.. my rain sensor is faulty (according to the computer) and my seat belt tensioner clicks constantly while driving..

Not too impressed so far with initial Porsche quality.. hopefully this isn't a sign of worse things to come..

I would not sweat the small annoyances. Unfortunately "debugging" is a fact of life these days. I would be furious, however, at a dealer who would not immediately take my new car in for a clutch issue such as you described. You can call Customer Committment (1800porsche) and ask them to intervene if the dealer won't look at this Monday morning. Good luck and post cause of this when you find out.

The dash buzz is a well known issue and the dealership will repair it most likely with felt tape. Good luck with the clutch and unfortunately some new Porsches need attention right out of the box.

OK, so I managed to get my car brought in this afternoon - the service rep drove the car in the parking lot, then a technician came out and did the same thing. Their explanation was that the clutch pressure plate (?) was loose and not properly torqued from the factory. Apparently, this is a known issue and according to the Porsche Area rep, was caused by a problem from the factory with the torque specfiications of the machine used to tighten the pressure plate.

I'm no clutch expert, but I hope I haven't mangled the explanation they gave me too bad. Problem is they now have to drop the entire tranny out of the car (which pisses me off being that it's a brand new car with only 800 miles on it). I want the car back for the weekend, however I want the car fixed correctly too, and that's more important. The rep said it shouldn't be a problem, but we shall see. Of course, he knew nothing of the buzzing dashboard, but I actually found a TSB (#2205) for the issue and told him about it. Hopefully they'll fix that as well.

I'm now New Porsche-less for a few days.. and it sucks..

Hang in there. Curious did you happen to notice a slight vibration when depressing the clutch pedal at higher rpms; I know its a new car so say around the 4200 limit? If so this is also a common issue with 997's and Boxster S's and I was told it is due to loose bolts as well.

I did notice a slight vibration, but it was during any clutch actuation at any RPM really. Scary, on my way down to the dealer, the clutch almost didn't engage as I came to a red light, I really had to press it hard to the floor - had it not engaged and the car stalled or bucked, I would have gotten stuck in the middle of a bad intersection. I put it in neutral as quickly as I could.

Interesting. If they do the repairr correctly it should take care of the vibration as well. BTW, I've had two 997S's already and they both had/have the vibration
