Just about everywhere I have read is that the 100 cell cats and even some 200 cell cats will give you the CEL. What is the truth and low down on this?

A good quality 200 cell cat shouldn't cause a CEL, improperly placed 02 sensors can also cause this. This is the email I received from Stef at Europipe regarding their 100 cell cat.

Hello David ,

A stock 997S has two 400 cpsi cats on each side , a small one and large one with the O2 sensor in between them.
The Lambda sensor is located in front of the first cat. The O2 sensor only checks the quality of the small cat.
400 cpsi = 400 cells per square inch
400 cpsi = 20 cells horizontal x 20 cells vertical per inch

The small stock cat is size 98mm x 74.5mm long while our sport cat is size 127mm x 90mm long.
So the volume of the small stock cat is 0.56 Liter and the volume of our 127mm cat is 1.14 Liter.

Now 100 cpsi cats have half the contact area of 400 cpsi cats.
Our 127mm 100 cpsi cats with 1.14 Liter volume have the same amount of surface area as the stock 0.56 Liter 400 cpsi front cats.
The 100 cell cats have twice the volume but half the contact area per square inch so the final contact area is equal to the small stock cats.
Therefore these big 100 cpsi cats will not cause a Check Engine Light problem.

The stock exhaust systems has 0.26 Bar backpressure and our sport system has 0.15 Bar backpressure.

We also had the original cats chemically analysed . According to this chemical analysis our cats are specially coated for street use .
This chemical coating is superior to the coating of regular race cats.

The big benefit of the X51 headers is their tube size of 48mm. We just clean up the welds at the flanges. The stock 997S headers have 42mm tubes and the popular aftermarket ones are 44.5 / 45 mm .

Hope this helps.
Feel free to ask me other questions.

Sincerely ,

Stef Tourné
