I am in the market for a new , or almost new 997. I am thinking about an S, white w/ black full leather and all the right goodies. Chrono plus, nav, high end bose, sport exhaust, and a few more things. Specs out at $96K+. Today at the local P dealer I saw an 06 C4S with 11,000 miles on it. White, black full leather, adaptive sports seats, plus all the option I mentioned. Car looks perfect, and it will be a certified car, extending the warranty.

Trouble is I see most 06's with less than 5000 miles. Should the mileage be buggin' me or not? Asking price is $89K, which seems high relative to the mileage. Original sticker was $105+. Give me some opinions to think about, please.

I think I'll go on a test drive tomorrow and see what I think.

The car is loaded. Are you sure about the sticker? If anything the sticker should have been higher.. The price is only a tad high - the car is really loaded. The mileage is probably highway. I assume the tires are new? Given the options and assuming the tires are new (or else factor 2K to replace) the price isn't offbase. With those options and 1-3K miles I have seen the same config at 92-94K.

I got mine in april with 900 miles on it, but if anything you are taking less of a chance than I did. The owner of yours must have put a lot of highway miles on. With only 900 miles on it, there is no telling what the previous owner of mine did (he traded it for a turbo) while the car was still in break in.. Or how hard it was driven while still cold. It was the exact one I wanted and only on the dealer lot for a week so I figured not too many test drives.

If you really want to be careful, ask the dealer to dump the rev limit profile. The car keeps track of how many times it hits the rev limiter along with a few other usage details. I didn't know about that when I got mine.

If the tires are good and the brake pads are original (car not driven hard or tracked) this is a reasonable price.

Oh and as for mine. I have been tracking it. Boiled the brake fluid (at a PCA event at Watkins Glen) and had to flush with a higher grade. Probably have to replace the pads and tires by the end of July. I have put 4500 miles on it in 2 months

 

I wouldn't let the mileage scare me, maybe it was their DD, have them download the data of the rev limiter. Do a PPI and take it to a body shop to get the body inspected, if it checks out $85K is fair.

 

Dont let the mileage bug you, as the 911 is a perfectly suitable car for a daily driver. Over here I see quiet alot of people using them as daily drivers and within a year they put around 20-25,000km atleast in this way they get to enjoy it daily rather than being kept in the garage most of the year.

I did get a copy of the original window sticker, and the car was more than I thought as Dan212 suspected. The MSRP was $107,210. I have decided to go back to the dealer over the next few days and see how the car grabs me. I was looking at a Club Coupe at a different dealer last month and after the 4th or 5th time, i decided that I would tire of the Azurro blue, so I passed.

I am thinking about offering $85K and new tires. From past experience the rears (Michelin Pilot's) don't get much more on the rears. The car has primarily freeway miles as the PO traveled to his visit his college age girls from Oxnard. I post my results.

PS Sold my 64 bali blue 356 C cabriolet today which was bittersweet.
