Whoever sold it should cover it, your dealer shouldn't pay for it.

Thanks guys. I called the dealer that sold me the car. They say they will take care of it for me. We shall see what happens.

problem with a CPO car, need some advise

Hi everyone,

I bought a CPO 06 C2 last nov from an out of state Porsche dealer. Took it in for a oil change today at my local dealer. I wanted them to look at the sun roof because of rattles when it is open.

Dealer called back saying the sun roof guide and liner is missing... and it will cost me $800 to fix it. I ask the service guy, shouldn't that be covered under new car warranty. He stated that it is not a defect. That only way for it to go missing is if someone took it out. Therefore, they won't cover it.

Now my view is that it should be covered since I wasn't the one who broke it. Even if the previous owner broke it. They should still cover it because Porsche should of either let me know of it when they certified the car. Or they should fixed it when they did the certification...

What do you think?

You should contact the out of state dealer that sold you the car. If they put the CPO warranty on the vehicle, then they did the full inspection and should have reinstalled the missing part(s) at that time. I would have the service writer at the current dealer contact the out of state dealer and have them work it out.

Good luck.

i think the dealer you purchased the car should cover it. they are supposed to have performed a 300+ point inspection before they sold the car to you. i am certain the sunroof is one of the 300+. although i think they really only check a few things!

as far as warranty, i would agree that a missing item in this case may be apply to the CPO. they have no way of knowing what happened to that part. manufacture often request broken parts to be sent back which would not be possible in this case. for all they know, you could've sold it on e-bay. just kidding. good luck.
