Question Color question

Now that Porsche has discontinued Carmona Red ( the color of my '07 C2S Cab), does that make my car more valuable because of it's rarity, or less valuable because not that many people liked it?
By the way, I love it!

I guess since the colour disappeared from the catalog it makes it less valuable whereas Atlas grey cars are technically worth $3.4k more! Now I don't think Ruby red would be that different from Carmona so that someone interested in a dark red would so fastidious to argue. Most important is that you like it, isn't it?

All in the eyes of the beholder Ed... Colors come and go almost every year. They still offer the Dark Olive Green, I will never be able to figure that one out, but that's just me.
I agree with Phil in the sense of "dark red metallics", there will always be someone interested in your car, most importantly you

I wanted a Carmona Red one....Couldn't get one, so I ended up with a Midnight Blue. I really like the Carmona Red/Ruby Red cars...They have always been my first choice....Excellent Color!!!

I personally love Carmona Red but like all of the other unusual colors offered by Porsche, your resale value will be much lower than a black, silver, grey car. It will be particularly painful if you try to trade the car in. Ask anyone who has an Orient Red, Rainforest Green, Meridien etc...... car.

I agree with jjpark except that this is changing as we peak. It's true that most cars ended up within light grey to dark grey shades during the 80s and 90s. In Europe especially, you'll be hard pressed to find a 911 of another color except for a few black and rare midnight blue ones. Check classifieds and you'll have to go back as far as the 70s to find a white, red or green car. Or else...2007! Amazingly white is back, and not only at Porsche (see M3, Mercedes, etc). People now seem to remember that just like a Ferrari is red, a Merc is grey and a Carrera is white -Carrera white!
If the above makes sense, then it's a grey one that might prove to be more difficult to sell in 3 to 5 years from now.

100,000+.. that put a tear in my eyes, but then that doesn't stop me from getting one.
they are very exclusive in canada still, i'm only talking about the 911s. It's the next rarest thing we see here after the ferrari and lambos.

There are not that many anyway. They reportedly sell about 1,000 a month in the whole North America, which is unprecedented. Now wait and see: With what's going on in the mortgage business, you should see pre-owned on the market quite soon!

A car is worth what someone is willing to pay. If you luck out and find someone who is dead set on that particular colour, it will be your lucky day. Otherwise, unusual/rare colours are generally harder to sell.

Order No. Code for Carmona Red

Is the Order No code for Carmona Red the same for any car? I have a 07 Cayman S & am trying to figure out the order #.

The 'ORDER' code was E4 for Carmona Red for an '07 Cayman, and the upcharge was $690. The factory paint code for Carmona is M3W, that is what a body shop would need to touch up or paint the car in that same color.

I absolutely have to have a white 997, so I'll pay a little extra for it. Its all in the buyers individual tastes.
