997 targa market price

I have a friend who is looking to pick up a new 997 targa tiptronic. The dealer is telling him it is a high demand car and that each dealership only gets one or two. Having owned one before, I am sure this is somewhat true because it is a niche car and not very many people go the way of the targa.

He is asking me my thoughts and I wanted to throw it out there for advice. Should he expect to pay list price on this car or will he be able to get a few thousand off?

I wouldnt call them "high demand", more of a supply issue. But he is right in that there are few dealer allocations. For a build, he will have to pay list but if there is one already in inventory, he could expect to get 5-10% off msrp (this is just anecdotal evidence from my search earlier this year). But since he wants a tip, a build is probably his only choice. Just my $0.02.

the are relatively very low demands for them, hence the dealer don't carry them in stock mostly = hard to get. But they are not in anyway high demand.

There is in fact lower supply, which makes sense becuase the targa roof option does not constitiute a large demand in the marketplace.

In any case, the sticker on my '07 Targa 4S was $114,500. The final negotiated price came to $108,000. 6%.

My sticker for the c4s targa I got was about 114 and I got 6% off. The targas have never been much in demand and I suppose you get hosed on resale. I like the pop back hatch a lot.

Hatch comes in VERY handy for those times when you are forced to pack the car!

I absolutely love the fact that that the targa has a pop hatch but i too was steered away and told that resale value will suck as most people would not want a targa .I wish my c4s had a pop hatch it would make things alot easier for me personally.
