Stero Upgrade

Hello, I've just bought myself a 2006 C2 S and am very pleased with it indeed, it's a fantastic car and I am enjoying the experience more and more as I drive it but I'm sure you are all aware of its attributes!!!.
However the one aspect I am not happy with is the standard stereo. I want to upgrade it but need some help. I spoke to a local dealer in Calgary who recommends a system costing $6500 and I find that a little steep. Has anyone upgraded to the factory BOSE system as an aftermarket installation, if so...pro's and cons would be appreciated. Also, does the BOSE system sound any good?
I have searched this forum and managed to find a couple of threads about stereos but it sems that a company called Rous is the only one reccommended. I can be in the NY area next spring and would wait until then if I need to but has anyone used this company, if so what was installed and approximate cost? I have sent them an e-mail but as yet have had no response.

Thanks in advance.

I also have Bose system, very happy with it.
If you want to change your system, check out this old post:

HL997c2s has replaced his Bose setup with a Pioneer D3 headunit with JL Audio amps.

Thanks, I probably should add that I am not a boom box kinda guy either. But I do like clean bass and clear sound at all driving speeds. The standard stereo does not give this, it is very poor for a car of such obvious quality in all other areas
