Joined the club on Saturday ...

After months of deliberation I pulled the trigger on Saturday and bought a new 07 C2S off the dealer's lot in Ottawa, ON.

I had assumed I would end up with a used car, and probably a US model that I would then import to Vancouver, but a couple of weeks ago PCNA finally woke up to the reality of the Canadian FX issue and announced a price drop of about $10k on '08 models. That resulted in a shock wave running through the used 07 inventory, and is rippling through the used car market. Bottom line for me was a saving of almost $20k off the MSRP and dealer will ship it to me in Vancouver at no cost to me. Now I just have to wait!!

FWIW ... a simply optioned car ... black on black (my prefered colors), sport chrono, sport exhaust, heated sport seats, Bose, self dimming mirrors.

So ... after being a lurker, then a searcher, I am now a waiter for that truck to show up. Hopefully it will get loaded onto the truck on Friday and will be here within the week.

Hey Lorne,

Just in time for the DE event on Sept. 24 at Mission Track hosted by PCA-CWR. Hope to see you there.

Not gonna happen, Tim ...

Though my CWR friends get really annoyed at me but I REALLY don't like Mission. Way too much concrete and lack of runoff.

As soon as I get comfortable in the car I will do some days down at PIR with one of Don Kitch's instructors (John Robison) teaching me what to do with it.

All moving very fast!!

Thanks for the feedback, folks.

What I had not mentioned was that I was moving from a 2001 Boxster S -- I have been a Boxster owner since 1998, and have loved the car. I've done over 50 track days on it, and it has led a very good life.

I wasn't sure about selling that car, but much to my surprise and delight it is gone within 24 hours of listing it on Craigslist here in YVR.

And even better, the dealer I bought the car from advises that it went onto a truck today and should be here next week.

So for the moment I am Porscheless, but eagerly anticipating!!
