I like it a lot. Before I could commit to a Challenger though, I'd have to know for sure whether or not they're really going to do a 'Cuda.

they are going to make 5,000 SRT-8's (6.1L auto's) from what I hear for the first run.
then some other stuff.
Then some 6-speeds manuals with the 392 crate motor.
we'll see.

I hate the FOG LIGHTS on the cuda. It looks light they came from Autozone.

Yeah, the fog lights are a little cheesy by today's standards, but they're supposed to be reminiscent of the originals, which were probably the **** in 1970.

I'm stoked that the Challenger's return, thus far, isn't a disappointment like GM's sad excuse of a "modern GTO".

I wonder how true the rear headlight design will be in production to the concept. That would, indeed, be extremely unique feature on the road in today's cookie-cutter auto industry.

Dodge Challenger SRT-8 actually stickers at $40,095

One of our readers pointed us to this page over at Dodge's website that contradicted our earlier post about the 2008 Challenger SRT-8's pricing, which was originally announced at $37,995 (including the $675 destination charge). We realize that inflation is a cruel mistress, but a bump in the sticker to $40,095 left us scratching our heads. A few emails back and forth between the people at Chrysler revealed that the SRT-8 was slapped with a $2100 gas-guzzler penalty that accounted for the discrepancy in price. Not a real surprise considering the 425 hp 6.1-liter HEMI V8. As a comparison, however, the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 gets a $1300 consumption penalty, even with 75 more horses under the hood. A quick search over at fueleconomy.gov revealed that if Challenger SRT-8 owners are penalized $2100, that means that they'll also only be getting between 18.5 and 19.5 mpg in the combined cycle. We doubt that'll be a deterrent, but it's food for thought.

i wonder if the handling would be similar to an 07 mustang, more straight line performance and less twisties unlike a lotus. Are there any details on the suspension?

it will be about 66-68 through the slalom i bet. not that bad for a full size car. but its not close to the vette and 997 numbers. and even farther away from the lotus and boxster s 72/73 numbers through the slalom.

any word on weight. the other srt8 are all 3800lbs or more. will this one be the same?

gt500 at 44k with 500hp @ 3850lbs or the challenger at 40k with 425hp @ 3800lbs?
