Are you sure that's the new one? It looks exactly like the old one - it shoud have the new nose if it's the next gen. Is that a pic of the V that was supposed to get the Z06 engine from a year or 2 ago?

That's the new one. I've read a couple things where they mentioned the new CTS-V doesn't use the new nose of the CTS. I love the mesh grill look in those pics. Yeah, the 2009 CTS-V will either get the Z06 motor or the supercharged LSA motor. I think most sources say it will be supercharged (especially with the bulge look of the hood).

The current bumper on that maybe in lieu of spy photo releases. It looks awesome, but I'd rather get some thing that has better engineering...ahem BMW. Like it, but when it comes to high performance and luxurious sport sedans, I don't think Cadillac

When I think of a cool car for golf fans, I think Cadillac.

BMW has nothing for this car in the sub 60K price range. The new M3 is 70K+ and the M5 is now 98K. At least you will be able to get to the golf course really fast.

Completely agree! The CTS-V is going to be the best bang for the buck 4 door sports sedan. It will blow the new M3 away and be cheaper too. It will probably blow away the current M5 as well. I personally don't like Bimmers. High revving motors with no torque and crappy/sparse interiors (for the $). Both Audi and Mercedes have much better interiors than BMW. Everyone argues "well, BMW has the best handling cars". That's great but I'm not taking turns at 80 mph on my commute to work or the store. I want a fast torquey car that looks good and has a nice, comfortable interior. If I want a great handling car, I'll go get a true sportscar like a Porsche. I think the new CTS-V is going to kill the competition in its' price range (C63, RS4, M3) and hang with cars 30% more expensive (new RS6, E63, M5). Put some cheap mods on the CTS-V (exhaust, intake, supercharger pulley, tune) and it will DESTROY all the 4 door sports sedans out there.

Until they get it out on the road with the competition, this is wishful thinking. I love what they have done with the CTS even though I think the front end on this car looks like crap, however, it will be facing some very stiff competition in its class. Good luck, but will wait for some comparos next year to see how it stack up against the others.

I would like to see them use the new LS3 in this car. Probably one of the best 8cyl engines made today. But for 500+ HP GM would have to put a blower on the LS3 (aka ZR-1) or use the 427 dry sump small block from the Z06 (which I dont think will fit).

As for performance, I don't think Cadillac has anything to worry about. This car will hand down a serious beating on all other performance sedans in its price range and probably ones that are significantly more. GM did it with the Z06, and the CTS is a far better platform.

I highly doubt this car will have the LS7 in it, me thinks the LS3 is where it will be

Your price comparisons are somewhat valid but the part about "taking turns at 80 mph" isn't correct. BMW builds the most "sporting" cars of the 3 (4 if you want to include Cadillac) and for a driver who likes the overall feel, most M-B, Audi and Caddy will feel too soft in some regard. BMWs are often the handling target and often do it at the expense of comfort. That's what makes different strokes for different folks. There's alot of reasons not to like BMWs or any of the others too. I'd like to see Caddy do well wih the CTS-V and hopefully they won't make the same bone-headed move of offering only a stick. Who knows how many thousands of sales that cost them last time. Regardless of the engine, and most accounts have a detuned S-charged C6 ZR-1 going in, it probably won't be faster than the stock Vette. Just my guess anyway.
