Unfortunately many car salespeople are clueless about things they should know.

Not really, I walk in order my truck the way I want it, they quote the best price they can, I pay cash when the truck comes in, if I do not like the deal, I don't buy.
I ran my engine shop straight up,treated people as best as I could, had more buisness than I could do,and retired at 41. I'm sorry but I really do not think you will ever make money by pissing off good customers, it's just one more example of poor buisness practice.

Come on Buddy.. How can you possibly expect guys who sell cars for a living to have anywhere near as much knowledge and passion about them as we enthusiasts do.

Not saying that I think its ok, far from it.. I just think that the people who sell cars for living who are also enthusiasts to a serious level vs. the make a quick buck salesmen are few and far between. I have only met one or two guys that even come close to knowing as much about the car I am there to purchase as I do, and I am not even a complete stat memorizing monkey about it.

OK i'll give you a example, we come up with a new design top alcohol head port and everyone and there brother wants it, our price lets say is 5K to do a set of BA heads from castings, now my salesman says "we only have a limited number of these castings we can do" so he puts them up for auction and gets 10K a set. I would fire that ******* for doing that. You **** off good customers who have spent 100's of thousands of $$$ with you to make a few bucks?? Thats just nuts. But everyone can run there buisness however they want.

well think of it like this, there isn't a HUGE margin in their big trucks, they've probably made 10K off of your last 6. They have the potential to make a lot more then that on this car.

Are you positive about this? I was always under the impression that SUVs and Trucks had the best margins? I remember reading that bad truck and SUV sales were really hurting US manufacturers (among many other things).

I love dealers that blow you off like that. I was even at a Mazda Dealership looking at 6's and quoted a price on a similar vehicle from another dealer and the guy just looked at me like I was asking him to sacrifice his new born. I didn't go in there and go, I want this car for this price, I just asked if he had anything similar, and he just was dumbfounded that I even expected him to carry a Mazda in a Mazda dealership.

Needless to say, I went to a different dealership and picked up the Speed6 for less than the V6 they had. Thing of it was, I would have been fine with the one they had on the lot, even at a similar price to what they were asking. The reaction of the salesperson alone made me leave.

For being professional sales people, some of them aren't worth the cubicle they sit in. God forbid any of them attend college and realize selling 10 cars at $1000 commission is better for them than selling 3 at $2k and alienating customers.

On top of it, the production model hasn't even been set in stone yet. The pictures floating around are still a pre-production car.

For a car to go into production in August, the "final" isn't usually determined until April.

I hope you are talking about the dealer because if you are talking about BuddyG then I would think your comment is pretty childish since he cannot respond and stabbing a banned person is pretty stupid.

Aloha
