I didn't read the article. But I hope GM puts something more than a 6 cyl. rear-end in the car this time.

So GM does it to us again. 1st Gen gets the weak rear and 2nd gen gets. 9.0:1 with Hypereutectic pistons. :fm:

Every time GM comes out with a new car, they always say "game over germans," but the cars usually don't live up to expectations and the germans still rule.

Holy crap! This thing looks DEADLY

the rear doesn't match the front's agressiveness

I'm hoping the cast pistons note is a misprint. That would definitely hurt the ability of the motor to push greater than stock numbers. I guess we'll see when the tuners get ahold of them.

styling may be "in" at the moment but will likely be classified in the "joe dirt" dept 5 years from now

Uhm.. a Caddie with a manual gearbox, a blower, brembo stoppers and factory PS2's? Did someone in R&D finally snap to the degree of making a car I'd actually drive?

Wow. Never saw that coming.

chrissurfr Jan 8, 2008 07:48 PM

wow! looks just like the old cts-v! woohoo!

GM is definitely making the effort here. Looks like the corrected a lot of the problems in the original car. I wonder how tunable the engine will be since it is a detuned version of the ZR1 motor. Can't wait to drive one.

looks great, but like someone else already said, they always say "game over germans" and bmw, merc, and audi even win out in comparison tests. This car has got to cost 100k if it's making 550hp, and that might not sit to well with the people who can afford that kind of money because most seem to prefer european cars.

Rumor is that it will come in at around 60-65K. The Germans can't come close to competing with this if that price range is accurate.

Still a POS. Sorry, drove the previous CTS-V with the LS6. One of the worst cars I've ever driven. No comparison at all to th E39 M5 with same HP. HP is not everything. I've also owned a C5 Z06 which I can say is a wonderful car, but I don't think the engine will do anything to this CTS-V cause it certainly didn't for the previous.

old car was based on a chassis from the mid 90's, this will be a huge improvement
