need some major pro touring help!!!

So I have never been into old muscle cars, but I need to learn fast! When my Dad passed, he left us with a few cool cars, and one was a 1968 Chevrolet Impala 427 4 Speed Hardtop. This car he had started toying with modifications, and it was in the process of getting a monstrous motor in it which is being held off. Anyways, the car looks near stock (suspension) and is in 100% pristine condition.

I want to slowly build the car like a cool pro touring/street rod that it was going to be. I know absolutely NOTHING about older cars, and am really a Euro/Exotic fan. Where are some good places to look for parts for a car like this? I know the car wasn't very popular among American 60's cars for "hot rodding" but I want to make it look really cool, almost toyish.

Are there any good forums for these types of cars, or does anyone have pictures of cool looking Impalas?

Also, how is the reliability on a car like this. It never was home, and always in a Museum. Now it will be here and I would like to be able to take it out maybe on weekends and at least once a week. Would I have issues with the car being as old as it is, or are they reliable?

I drove some events with them but I couldn't get into Grand Am with them until I graduated college. Unfortunately, that didn't happen in time, so I am going to pursue racing through some other ventures, and I should be racing some sort of pro series in the next year/2. I've got the skills, just need the seat time!
