Drove the ZR1 Last Night....

Slightly damp, with drivers + passenger, testing stage, and engineers driving (not GM's GT1 drivers who would still be caught up in actual racing). I cant wait for GM to publish their ring time.
The ugly thing for the other manufacturer is that this can can still use more downforce like the Viper SRT10 ACR and shave off far more weight like the V-Spec and GT2.

I was working the Chicago Auto Show last night and after I got all my vehicles loaded I helped a friend drive his vehicles out of McCormack Place to the marshalling yard where we load. He gave me a choice to drive the new 550hp CTS-V or the ZR1 out of the hall. Hmmm, let me think about that for a minute. OK, I'll take the ZR1. I have no clue how fast it is since it was snowing and I really like staying employed. I will say this though, that has to be the best sounding V8 I have ever heard. The drive out of McCormack is thru tunnels and the wail of that engine at 5K in 1st was pretty amazing reverberating of the walls. The burble and crakling on decel was out of this world. The clutch was making a noticeable racket at idle as well. Sounded like a LWFW type setup.... still not a Corvette kind of guy. Here are some pics, sorry for the quality but it was 3AM .....

if it was snowing i would have taken the CTS-V. I'd probably never want to own one of those cars, but just to drive it it puts the IS-F, M3, C63, RS4 to shame so bad. Wait until the 2010 RS4 comes out though, with the V8 4.2 BiTurbo. That's going to be ridiculous.. Audi is getting totally ridiculous with all the horsepower. Pretty soon the RS3 will have a stroked out version of Murcielago LP640 motor with a bi-turbo setup at the rate they're going.
