from what i have heard its the same engine and power with the new body in 2010. as expected the price should go up but only a little.

in 2011 the gt500 is slated to have weight loss. about 100lbs from what i have been told, a lot of that coming off of the front end. the 11 model is the one to go after.

Nonetheless, the price of an older GT500 is going down so fast that it is hard to determine the market price.

Back when I worked at Honeywell in AZ, the brother of one of the guys I worked with was an engineer at the GM Proving Grounds in Mesa, AZ. He said his brother had to put in a couple of years working at the Proving Grounds up in Milford, MI in order to finally get transferred down to AZ. Freezing your *** off for a couple of years at the "Black Lake" up in Milford might be worth it to be able to work as an engineer down at the Proving Grounds in Mesa.

Never mind, I just looked it up, and it looks like GM sold off the Mesa Proving Grounds property to developers and moved the whole shebang down to Yuma. <Shudder> I was involved in Apache Weapons testing down there back in the early to mid 80's, and there was only one hotel in town that all the various defense contractors stayed at while they were working there. Naming it a "Fleabag" hotel would have been extremely generous. That was where I encountered my first seemingly mutant ****roach. That bastard must have been at least 3 inches long, and pretty resistant to a good beating with a hiking boot. When you see something like that when you step into the shower first thing in the morning with a massive hangover, it ain't a pretty sight.

One thing his brother did say that I remember very well was that you should never, ever, ever buy a Corvette that had been used at the Mesa Proving Grounds, no matter how cheap you think you can get it for. It is not a bargain.

If it gets a IRS it will be a worthwhile SVT. 665 hp the sob is gonna fly in a straight line. It's the dealer markup that destroys it.

Weight does not affect cars anymore. Take a Look at the BMW M-Series, and the AMG cars.

If they make it with 660 + hp it's gonna move. Broken record I know but really that is a bargain for 48 grand. It will kill a m3 not bad.

how do you know this? Nobody has ever driven the car.

the s197 mustang can handle really well with a proper suspension.

I had nothing as extreme as these cars in the vids, but my 3K suspension package was as fast around turns as my ex-roommates srt-10 viper and Z06.

That is REALLY impressive. I hope the 2010 gets IRS. My neighbor has the 40th anniversary package vert ... GORGEOUS !! Anyway he stays with me at Summit Point which is phenom considering the weight difference. Drive skill another issue as well. Did you sell your Shelby yet ?

Those cars are sick.

There are a couple of GT500's with the full griggs suspension and brakes that have 700-800rwhp from Kenne Bell's.

take a look at these vids. In a near stock gt500 vs the griggs/kb gt500. Couple of Z06's in there too.

The driver in the cam car is an instructor and has been in the 2.30 range in his car on that track and the griggs car runs from him like nothing.
