Thumbs down SRT 300 Getting the Axe, But SRT Grand Cherokee is a Keeper

For those of you that like class with your speed, you are about to be about another choice in super sedan country, Chrysler will be killing the 300 SRT after this generation.

The sedan’s poor sales, and in my opinion, not enough room actually in the car have led the company to rethink the model and will not be bringing the name back.

Rethink the sub-model or the model??

I consider that a mistake based on the styling of the Charger SRT-8 which I would no longer consider. Perhaps being older, I find the 300 a better choice now.

Having owned a first-gen Charger SRT-8 for 75k miles, the build quality was near excellent, and while the interior didn't look the best, it's quality in terms of wear and controls was excellent. The back seats had room, more than the Taurus and enough for a family, rental and Police fleet duty. Just not the same as a Crown Vic. If I didn't care about mileage and needed a large car within a certain budget, I would consider a 6.1 or a 6.4 in a heartbeat.

The current generation with the 6.4 is a solid mid-12sec car with the 5speed auto for what, 50k? So comparing to the European alternatives is apples to oranges. If it gets the 8speed, even better.

While the SS may be better on the track, I far prefer a 300 SRT as a daily driver with better controls and no door rattles.

The Jeep is cool, but ridiculously large & heavy, slower and I don't see how mpg isn't a consideration with the Jeep if it is for the 300.

I can't argue with sales numbers, but I don't agree with the article.

Thanks Deuuuce! I agree with you, I'm not a big fan of the SRT Jeep either. Thanks! - Ed
