Aftermarket OEM Porsche shops in Dallas?

Hey guys,

I wanted to see what Porsche aftermarket shops there are in Dallas and also share referrals. After I pay down my C2 Targa a bit I expect to do some upgrades like exhaust and rims. It would be cool to have some referrals to discuss some options.

Thanks!

RUF is probably the best in Dallas, other options would be Autoscope and Eurosport, I know Boardwalk Porsche also does some mods.

I know Hans, Wayne etc at RUF, that is where I would go.

Yea thanks! I went to RUF and met Hans. I thought euroscope and autoscope were essentially the same place but I may be wrong.

I found out http://www.wheelexperts.com/ has their facility in Southlake, TX and I may go take a look.

Let's keep em coming!

Thanks!

Hey guys,

After the Porsche run I had tar, rock chips and all kinds of crap. I am considering a clear bra. I learned about Speedshield but I am curious where you guys bought your clear bras from, how satisfied you are and how much you paid.

Thanks.

BigMac -

I like the guys over at Fifth Gear in Lewisville (on 407 just west of I-35). Rick used to be at Boardwalk Porsche and set up his own shop a few years back. They are very honest and do a great job, and they focus on Porsches.

Sorry to hear about the tar - yuck!

On a separate note/thread - I have brand new black rims with a polished lip - I might be interested in a trade for your OEM wheels. Mine are 18s - are yours?

Rims

Hey Todd,

Thanks for the info! I checked out their website and will stop by sometime soon!

In regards to rims, I am interested. Mine are 18' and in great condition. I want black rims since I cant imagine any other color rims on my car however I am curious about the finished lip....pics?

I'll throw in my .02 on indy shops in the DFW area. I have been to and purchased from RUF. They are great at what they do and have a very well run facility. They are certainly not the cheapest in town and you do get what you pay for.

I needed a shop that I felt I could get a better balance from. I needed a little more conversation than I got from RUF. I wanted to have a relationship where an indy was cost conscious and wasn't going to charge me msrp x2. I had Eurosport in Plano ( 100yds north of 190 on Coit ) make some adjustments on a 500hp supercharged BMW I had. I was simply amazed at the experience. They will chat, talk and make sure you have a complete idea of their position on issues or needs with your car. They take pictures of everything they do and make a serious documentation trail for services performed. Gary Och's, the owner, basically ran Autoscope for along time and then left to do his own thing.

After chatting with them and building the relationship, I have had about 15k worth of work done on the Porsche. Do yourself a favor and take the time to make a trip over to say hello. They are absolutely on time, budget, execution and complete customer service.

Sighting

Thanks for the comment!

Hey, were you at trinity mills / midway today? It had to be you, you were parked right behind me. If so, your car is clean dude. I got my haircut and was hoping to get a glance at ya and chat...but, didnt want to be a 6speedonline stalker!

Thanks for the feedback on the shop. I will definitely take a trip over there. I went to RUF and tried to just be friendly and ask some general questions. They were polite but not...overly friendly. I got Hans card, took a tour of some of the hot cars and left. Albeit the sales guys were at lunch the receptionist guy was nice.

Thanks!

Yea, that was me and I was getting a haircut as well. I parked behind you because I just love the Targa look and wanted to check it out.

The "receptionist guy" is Wayne. He and Hans are partners. They know their **** but like I said, you pay a premium price and they just don't lend themselves to conversation. That really doesn't mean anything bad, I just need a crew that is a better fit. I do 60% of my own work and all of my own mods but leave the intense **** to the guys who do that daily. Go over and ask for Gary or tell Jeff(counter guy) that you want Jerry to work on your car.
