heard a rumor today, the source of which is a friend of a friend who visited the AMG factory within the last month or so and he was apparently told by the folks at AMG that they were working on their own AWD system for AMG cars because they felt 4MATIC wasn't up to the task.

anybody know anything about this? anybody heard similar?

an AWD S55 might be the perfect family sedan for the doody household!

Please, please, please AMG, make AWD versions of your models.

I have the wonderful RWD SL55, and the only thing that would have improved this car's traction, would have been an AWD (if it had only been available at that time).

My next car will only be AWD. Looking at Porsche Panamera, future AWD Maserati, Audi RS5, and Bentley GTC.

If only AMG would give us AWD, I'll stay with Mercedes-Benz.

 

This would definitely put Mercedes back on my list cars to look at.

I've grown quite fond of current AWD systems. They are no longer restrictive and unbalanced. They adapt, and some of them even handle and perform like RWD cars, except when you need them not to be.

 

In doing a little research, I have found that, in Canada during February 2010, 69% of BMWs sold were equipped with xDrive, while 79.9% of Mercedes-Benzs sold with 4Matic.
