The swedish version of Auto Motor Sport tested the MB S65 AMG.

With GPS they noted (km/h):

0 - 100 in 4.28 secs (faster than factory claim)
0 - 200 in 13.22 secs.
0 - 250 in 21.60 secs.

They used an S4 V8 and a GT3 as reference.

When the S4 is about to hit 200 km/h (in 21.89 secs.) the S65 is already doing 250 km/h... :bigeyes:
The GT3 does 0 - 200 km/h in 15.68 secs and is left long behind as well.


Unfortunately it seems they had an accident on their way back from the testing.

 

Wow! Fast car! Too bad about the front end. That huge engine looks like it would need a special lubricant just to get it in between the strut towers.

 

That thing is gunna be a monster...I had a run with an S55 tonight....lets just say I was surprised!!!!
He was behind me at a light, I took off normal shifted to 2nd at 3000 RPM putting me at 2000RPM in second... Just as I had completed the shift I seen his lights lift and he ducts to the left lane (guess he saw the plate ). Now keep in mind I am totally out of boost and he has got the jump on me, but I punched it anyway. He never got past me (was dead even for a sec), and by the time I hit my brakes (middle of 4th) his front was just off my rear bumper!!! That thing was QUICK. I believe if I had been in boost I would have put a couple car lengths, but either way that thing is HUGE!!!
I then blew his HOT GF/Wife a kiss and turned around

PS-How fast is the reg. S55??

 

How much of a jump did he get? Say he hammered it and you took 2 sec. to react. Say your acceleration performance was degraded by 3-5 seconds because you were not on boost. The entire time difference between his WOT and your peak performance has him out accelerating you. Total time down before it was a real machine versus machine match could be 5-10 seconds. That's one of the problems with street racing...knowing what to attribute to the cars performance, and knowing what to attribute to the start conditions.
