Maintaining Wheels and Tires

I'm a newbie at this. Well, I mean that although I have loved cars ever since I was a kid, I just got myself my very first kick-*** model from Porsche. And when it comes to keeping my new baby good-looking and in top condition, I have so many things to learn. However, I don't want this to be a trial-and-error thing, so I decided to join this fourm to make sure I get the best advice from the more experienced car enthusiasts.

Anyway, I thought that when it comes to my car's wheels, all I have to make sure is I don't get a flat tire. And that I wash them when they get muddy. I never thought I needed stuff like tire shine or something. Anyway, can somebody give me advise on how to take care of my tires? How do I make sure they last long? Is there a proper way of cleaning them? What products should I use?

congratulations on your new car, ericspeed.

speaking of tire shine, i can suggest a product that i have tried and tested. it is a tire shine product from Ultima. it's very easy to use, and it gives your tires a brand-new look.
