Need some advice please

Hi all, I am going to have a turbo looked at tomorow. It's got 30,000kms and is a 2007 model. Will have a condition report done at the dealer. Is there anything particularly I should check? I currently have a c2s pdk but am not happy with the fact that I cannot do anything with the car or else my warrany voids. If I get the turbo, I plan on keeping it without any warranty so I can do what I please. Is this safe? Or is a warranty needed? I have been told that the turbos are reliable however I would appreciate some more feed back. Thanks all.

Hi porsche boy. I am on my way to buy a 997tt and I am rather spending a little bit more for a 4miles driven 08 car so barely new car, because you just don't know how the previous owner maintained it and driving habits. I am kinda picky with cars but the 07 should be a better bang for the buck if you are going to do a motor build up for a high HP car. All depends on the use and personal taste. As far for known issues for the 07 no clue I leave that to the pros here.

Best of luck.

Yes I completely agree, better to be on the safe side. However the deal is pretty swell with this 2007 so is why I am considering it, and as far as modification it's nothing serious. Just bolt ons and visual upgrades. Thanks and good luck with your buy.

1) A DME scan can reveal engine over rev . This was posted on the 997 forum. This thread discusses it --particularly post 17 .https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-over-rev.html

2) Inspect paint or over spray or gaps .

The car has miles .. I have no idea what the market in your region is like but in the USA a Porsche faces its first depreciation hit at 10K miles and an even greater loss at 50K . A high mileage , out of warranty . modded Turbo with two owners would be your scenatio if you decide to sell it and my feeling is spend more money going into the car with a low mileage car . It leaves you an exit strategy if things don't work out.

I will be doing a condition report soon so I believe this will cover the scans of the over revs, in any case will definately check on this. The car is a tip so I don't think there can be any stage 2 revs if i'm not mistaken. Do you think a warranty is needed for the turbo cars in general?

Tip won't have over rev .
Warranty is important . Repairs are not cheap on an out of warranty car.
