Exhaust remove/reinstall question

I just bought an '08 997tt (my first Porsche) and it came a Tubi race exhaust that I had removed and replaced with the stock exhaust so that I could pass the emissions inspection. I noticed that a lot of members in this forum have race exhausts on their cars. How do you guys pass emissions testing? Is it common to reinstall your stock exhaust to pass the test?

unless you live in a state that has no emmision checks you will need to run cats or remove and replace.

IMO the wee bit of HP is not worth the headache, grab one with cats and your good for years.

+1.

Not to mention the costs of uninstalling aftermarket exhaust, installing stock, uninstalling stock, and reinstalling aftermarket exhaust each time. Unless of course you can do it yourself, in which case costs are not a factor, just the headache of doing the job

Are there states that actually do NOT require emission testing?
