Ceramic Brake Replacement
Ceramic Brake Replacement
My bone stock 07 TT has almost 40K miles on her and the squeak level on the stock ceramics is now out of control. Braking power is OK but won't hold out forever. I know I can replace my OEM ceramics (rotors/pads, etc.) with fresh OEM stuff, but what are my options if I want to go aftermarket for brakes. Specifically, what are my options if I want to stay with "ceramics" and what will be the cost for same ? Will your response change if the car goes into a tune mode adding way more ponies (ie. 800hp) ? Thanks for any guidance.
I would recommend swapping them with a Brembo conversion. It should run you about a 1/4 of the cost and you wont compromise breaking. Maintenance will also be much cheaper moving forwards. Please pm me for more details.
We did a similar conversion on a customers GT3

PCCB are swueaking even when new. I don't know how bad is yours but i would suggest to check pads and rotors before changing them. Changing ceramic carbon rotors to steel rotors is a downgrade not an upgrade
To OP: See milou's & Chris's response above. If you did not track the car and there has been no accident pebble hit on the rotor itself, there is NO reason to expect that your car's rotors need changing. The PCCB rotor lasts much longer than 40k and in fact, to date, I have not come across a non-track 997 PCCB rotors that need changing yet!
Iron brake is great, but the "initial bite" will not be the same as PCCB. One is braking, the other is being "stopped by the hands of God." J/K.
