Can oil consumption change over time?

When I bought my car at 7600 miles, and up until 1000 miles ago, I was adding oil all the time. No leaks, just the typical 997tt consumption of oil. I've only had the car for 10.5 months but already am up to 20.5K miles . I've noticed now that the car burns through less oil. I searched the topic on the forum but didn't find anything in particular about this. Is this normal? Does it mean that the engine is now "broken in"? I have had no change in my driving habits, i.e. still very spirited and high reving

Just curious...

TIA

I noticed the same pattern myself. Up through about 8k miles, I was always topping off oil. After 10k miles, I am hardly "burning" any oil.

Thanks...I like your "garage". I'm looking to add a Range Rover Sport as well. I think that's the perfect setup!

Thanks MK23 - RRS has been pretty decent. I was concerned with reliability of land rovers but I really haven't had much issues...so far. I believe a redesign is around the corner (next year).

Never had a p-car that didnt do a ramping down oil consumption pattern.
So sounds normal to me.

Nothing like 2-3 bars down suddenly or anything like that - just a bar down on a regular basis, until over about a few months to a year it seems to settle down.

I believe oil consumption could change depends on how you drive the car.
