Looking for opinions if this could be feasible or if I am totally out of my mind. For the past few months have been half heartedly looking for a a wrecked s600 for a drivetrain for the 4matic. It seems like renntech gave up on the 12 cyclinder e class conversions. My friends bodyshop came up with a rolled over clk55 that is almost too good of a deal to pass up. How much of a nitemare would it be trying to get that drivetrain into a 4matic? In a way i need the all wheel drive for the winter so dumping the 4matic for an E55 wouldnt work.

 

4 matic transfer cases are the weak point. If you can get someone to make a reinforced one best of luck to you. However, if you use the stock one, think 5-10k miles before it craps out with the 590lb ft that the v12 makes. Its rated up to take 650nm of torque and then it gives. I would not bother doing a V8 swap, just get an E500 4matic and get kleeman stage 8.
