Mounting Location for Radar Detector

I did a search but could not find an answer for my question. I mounted my radar detector right above my mirror and hard wired it to the car. I do not know if it is my imagination or not but it does not seem to go off as frequently as it used to do. Am I wrong for mounting it in this location and is there a better spot?

Ditto. Have run my V1 there for years. Works just fine.

Only issue was when I was pulled over by an AZ state trooper (for failing to signal a lane change and not for speeding) he told me the V1 was not legally mounted and to either relocate it to the legal spot (down low on either corner of the windshield) or take it down. I took it down until after I was out of AZ.
