pccb pads are more than 50% worn. replacing all 4 sets. what are my options ?

Guys,
I finally picked the car up this weekend. my pads are a little more than 50% worn and i am being advised to change them all out now to keep my rotors pristine.

what options do i have ? it seems like there are the oem pads that pagid makes, as well as a track pad ?? i will not be getting the track pad, as the car is a DD.
thanks guys.
im going to clean the car up in a few hours and post some pics.
happy Memorial day !!!

Steve, don't know if this is the "best" option but this is how I did it: bought OEM PCCB pads from Sunset Porsche (or Suncoast, don't remember which has the lower cost) and had my Indi shop replace them.

Why change pads if they are 50% worn and still have life?

Don't think u can use regular pads that are not designed for pccb rotors. Your life depends on good brakes so get oem quality pads.

i'll try to get the explanation again. something about how the pad produces a lot more heat at a certain point after its half life, and it wears the rotor out a lot quicker.
i think heat builds up in the thinner pad, causing the rotor to wear quicker.
cannga, thanks. that what i'll have to do tomorrow.

IIRC, for PCCB pads, the rumored and "unofficial" recommendation has been that you change pads at about 40,000 miles. There has never been an "official" explanation either.

The thinking behind this is that PCCB damage is caused not by breaking of the PCCB disc per se, but by damaged/worn-out/over-heated/etc. pads with exposed metal causing the damage. For safety and because it is so infrequent anyway and doesn't cost nearly as much as replacing PCCB discs, I believe this is what PCCB owners on this forum have been doing: Changing pads at around 40,000 miles, regardless of wear.
